After last night's downpour, a few things were wet and a lot of things were out of place due to my haste in packing them away last night. Slow going due to all the unpacking and repacking, which gave the mosquitoes even more time to eat me alive.
Like yesterday, nothing too bad. Flat and no wind whatsoever. Bad pavement all day though, and heat. Really made a difference today, and since it rained so much last night, it was humid to boot. Glad I had less miles than yesterday and therefore didn't have to ride through the afternoon.
Went to about six churches and no one was at any of them. Holed up in a hotel instead.
I'd say I've moved out of West Texas and into Central Texas again. Starting to see familiar landscapes, among other things. Just about every town has at least one business named after the high school mascot and a water tower painted in the school colors. One thing that amuses me is how many towns lay claim to being the center of Texas. Each one pick a different way of saying it though, and it almost sounds like they're trying to one-up each other.
About every other town, I pass some hole-in-the-wall barbeque place that smells really good. Tried going to one in Brady, but it closed at 3:00 PM on Sunday. Arg! I miss everything being open all the time. One more thing I'm going to like about Austin when I get there in two days.
