Got up and enjoyed a generous helping of the hotel's free breakfast, packed up, and headed out. The sun is coming up a lot later lately, meaning I can't get on the road until later, so I have to spend more time riding in the afternoon. I got into a groove early and was able to hold on to it for a long time, and I didn't take my first break until I got to Llano at mile 51. Landscape changed dramatically after that. Went from seeing trees every now and then to seeing them everywhere, and got my first taste of Hill Country. Hills got progressively bigger and more frequent in the last 15 miles. Tomorrow will be spent entirely in Hill Country and may be a challenge.

Saw a fruit stand as it was getting hot late in the day and thought I'd get a peach. Everything was sold by the basket and I wanted just one. I asked how much that would be, and the lady working there just gave me one. And what a peach it was! Thanks, fruit stand somewhere near Buchanan Dam!

The plan for the day was to go to Inks Lake State Park. By the time I got to the turnoff, it was already 100 degrees outside. The whole reason I wanted to go to the state park was to actually see it, go on a hike, something like that. With it so hot outside, I wouldn't be able to enjoy it. Burnet was only eight more miles, so I decided to press on in the interest of staying indoors somewhere and making tomorrow even shorter.

Went to the Church of Christ to ask for a floor and a roof, and got a hotel room instead! A big thank you to Scott Meadors of the Vanderveer Street Church of Christ in Burnet, TX.
