Where I'm At
Training has been off and on lately. Without an event to train for, it’s hard to stay diligent. After running the Austin Marathon, I was running every other day at best and gained 7 kg in only a couple weeks.
Since then, I’ve managed to start running every day again, and dropped 2 kg. Still a few left to get back down to an ideal weight, but it’s something. But while I’m running regularly, I’m not doing all the extras - stretching, floor exercises - nor am I running as far as I used to.
Still, that’s not entirely a bad thing. I was putting myself through a lot training for those races, and it was eating up all my time. While my current routine isn’t ideal for being a competitive runner, it might be just as effective for the goal of generally staying healthy.
The PCT looms, less than two months away. My two biggest concerns are my mild plantar fasciitis and simply dealing with the heat in the desert. There’s not a lot I can do about plantar fasciitis at this point, aside from wearing good shoes. As far as the heat, the plan is to simply keep running, even as the weather heats up.
